when it's time to move! It's been about 6 year since we moved. Wow..I can't believe its been that long. Actually it hasn't been a long time but it sure seems like it and we have the stuff to prove it. So much stuff that has been accumulated, where does it all come from....I am so ready to just rent a dumpster and get rid of it all. The packing seems so overwhelming...do any of you have any tips.. this has truly been madding to me...
11 points for me!!!:
It's so bad I rather blog....lol =)
I was SO thinking about you today. I am glad that you blogged--I have missed you!!
Are you just moving to a different house or to a different area? I haven't moved in 11 years so I am of NO help at all. Good luck!!
I have NO good tips! I am happy to see you though! I was thinking about you just the other day..wondering if you were still blogging!
I hate moving. I'm not a really good mover either. My advice is if you haven't used it in over a year throw it or give it away. If it's broken, throw it away. Box up one room at a time if you can and label the boxes well.
I'm glad you are blogging again even if it is that you are moving so that means you probably won't be blogging too much anytime soon.
I just moved and am actually still living in boxes. We put an industrial size garbage bag in every room so that while we packed, we could also throw away stuff. And, we were very liberal with the stuff we threw away. We also had a box in every room for the thrift store and put everything possible in that box. Finally, we tagged items we wanted to sell on Craig's List and have those items waiting in the garage until our upcoming sale or until someone calls.
Anyway... it's been so liberating to get rid of stuff and feel like we can start clean! It didn't necessarily cut down on the moving head ache or time involved, but it has made unpacking soooooooo much better :).
We've moved so much you think I'd be good at it. But I'm not. Get rid of what you can. And I always need to keep in mind that the last 10% of my stuff takes about 80-90% of my time to pack. 'Cause I always leave the hard stuff for last. Stuff that doesn't belong in an obvious category or is an odd shape or size. It's just good to keep that in mind when planning how much time you need. GOOD LUCK!!!
oh my gosh ~ thnx for the advice...i knew my bloggy friends would come thru for me even just knowing ur there...has made all the difference..
We are moving to a different house and a different area..
Kind of a hard situation...will blog about it in the future... in the mean time..thanx u guys!! i have missed u all so much!
Moving just stinks, and I've done a lot of it. So, I definitely feel for you. Good luck with everything!
I have been married almost 11 years and have moved 3 times during that time. I absolutely hate doing it. I plan on staying where I am for a good long time. Maybe even forever. Just so I can avoid moving.
It looks like you've already received plenty of good advice. I don't think I have anything to add except "Good Luck!".
You are moving?? To where? What state? We had a big tag sale when we moved to Florida...for all 3 months, lol! We sold things we no longer needed or wanted and made some nice cash.
Packing paper although it will be a pain when you unpack IS your friend. Keep those fragile treasures from breaking. And keep some of your boxes when you have finished the move. You can put junk rarely used but unwilling to give up in your attic or basement.
I'm glad you're blogging again! Ugh, moving...I have sympathy for you! Maybe you could have a giant yard sale or just donate or toss the things you don't want or need anymore.
